West Indies players: death threats

The nightmare continues for West Indian cricket. Despite performing brilliantly in the 1st Test against South Africa, where yesterday Wavell Hinds (188) and new captain Shiv Chanderpaul put on a 241 unbroken partnership, the news off the pitch refuses to improve. Today, their player’s representative spoke of the death threats and intimidation some of the players had received, not least by the WICB itself. I don’t begin to understand the political and cultural problems which appear to be the root cause of all this. Suffice to say it’s incredibly sad for their cricket fans, all of whom just want to see their heroes play for their country.
