Peter Moores new English Academy director

Marsh has been such an influential figure in the redevelopment of English cricket, and in the setup of the Academy. And he hands it over to Peter Moores who, last week, was widely tipped to be his replacement. He was also shortlisted to coach the West Indies along with Bennett King, who is now in place.

I’m disappointed that Marsh has to leave – he’s added an edge to English cricket, so I hope Moores can carry on his fine work. More at the BBC, The Telegraph and more on him at Cricinfo.

On similar lines, the ECB have announced there is to be an extension to Duncan Fletcher’s “player pool” to 25. This will include some young guns like Ian Bell (who should play this year, and if he doesn’t, the selectors should be shot) and gives Fletcher the power to pull any of the 25 from county cricket as he sees fit.
