Flintoff proves his worth

South Africa, up until about 30 minutes ago, were sitting quite happy on 187-3. De Villiers was given out to Giles leg before – talk about the nervous nineties! – then Flintoff showed what a class act he is, and what an improved bowler he is, by snaffling out 2 in an over. 17 wickets this series at 28. Smith fell to the oldest trick in the book – a juicy wide one edged to 1st slip – then Pollock was bowled off an inside edge. Superb exhibition of how to bowl on this pitch, and a reminder to his team mates of how crap they have been. South Africa are now 200-6. I feel it’s another case of reasonable bowling combined with poor batting – arguably the story of this series as a whole…

Anyone’s game now, with England perhaps the slight favourites to “win” the day if they can snaffle 1 or 2 more.
